| Two Lighting Relays Controller Features | NEXT |
The Two Lighting Relays controller provides features for cycling layout lighting including timing, delayed timing, random timing, train counting, and day-of-week selection.
Features are arranged in eight "sets," designed to provide a group of selectable features targeted to a lighting application. Features are selected by installing "jumpers" across an array of eight rows by two columns of pins in the upper-left corner of the circuit board.
| ON/OFF Timing | The ON/OFF Timing feature is activated whenever an input is ON. |
When the input turns on:
The 2LR has feature sets for timing from four seconds to twenty minutes and with equal ON and OFF times, ON times longer than OFF times, and ON/OFF times randomly selected within a timing range.
The ON/OFF Timing feature can be activated by a train in an isolated outside-rail track block, by an operator switch, by relay contacts, or it can be made to cycle by applying a continuous voltage to a corresponding input.
When cycling with a feature set with longer ON times than OFF times, a light connected to the relay NO (normally open) terminal will be ON more than OFF; a light connected to the NC (normally closed) terminal will be OFF more than ON.
| ONE-TIME-ON Timing | The ONE-TIME-ON Timing feature is activated only when the input changes from OFF to ON. |
Thus, the relay is ON only once, always for the specified "ON Time," as a train proceeds through a connected track block, a pushbutton is depressed, or connected relay contacts close.
The ONE-TIME-ON Timing feature is useful for synchronizing one light timing with another. For example, morning, evening, or other day-parts are created by wiring the input of a relay jumpered for ONE- TIME-ON Timing to a "day" or "night" relay.
The ONE-TIME-ON Timing feature will not cycle continuously when the input is continuously activated: the input must go OFF before a new timing cycle will be started. Two or more relays set for the ONE-TIME-ON Timing feature can be interconnected to provide "sequencing" functions.
The ONE-TIME-ON Timing feature is available in four feature sets with jumper selecting timing of 2 to 25 seconds, 10 to 130 seconds, 2 to 480 seconds, and 20 to 900 seconds. A delayed form is also available.
| Train Counting | The "Train Counting" feature counts input off-to-on activations and turns a relay ON when the count is as specified by jumper selection. |
Jumpers select counts for the relay from every-other to every- fifth input activation.
The relay stays ON until the next input activation, then turns OFF.
The counter input can be connected to an isolated outside-rail, to count train passings, to an electrical pushbutton, to count button pushes, or to relay NC or NO contacts, to count relay activations.
| Weekday Counter | An off-to-on change on Input-1 causes the counter to be changed to the next "day" in a Monday-to-Sunday-to-Monday cycle. |
Lights wired to relay NO terminals will be ON for the selected day, e.g. Monday. A light wired to the NC terminal will be ON for all days except the selected day.
With the "Weekend" selection, a light wired to the NO terminal is on for Saturday and Sunday. A light wired to the NC terminal will be ON for Monday - Friday.
