Train signal lights can be operated with basic features or the following specialized signaling features: NEXT

Prototypical Block Signal

Lights are OFF when no train is in the track blocks.

With no train in either block, both signal lights are off. A train moving into the Input-1 track block turns the Green light ON. As the train proceeds into the Input-2 track block, the Green light is turned OFF and the Red light is turned ON. When the train leaves the Input-2 track block, both lights are OFF.

Flashing Block Signal

Lights flash and then turn on as a train proceeds through the track blocks.

With no train in either block, the Green light, is ON and the Red light, is OFF. A train moving into the Input-1 track block starts the Green light flashing. As the train proceeds into the Input-2 track block the Green light is turned OFF and the Red light starts flashing. When the train leaves the Input-1 track block, the Red light is turned full ON. When the train leaves the Input-2 track block the Green light is turned back ON.

Warning Block Signal

Lights flash if a train is in a conflicting track block.

The track block after the signal is connected to Input-1 . A track block which, if a train is in the block, would conflict with a train in the Input-1 block, is connected to Input-2 . The Input-2 track block can be a crossing track, or a block on the opposite side of a track switch.

With no train in either block, the Green light is ON and the Red light is OFF.

A train moving into the Input-1 track block:

If no train is in the Input-2 track block: Relay-1 and the Green light are turned OFF. Relay-2 and the Red light are turned ON.

If a train is in the Input-2 track block: Both relays and lights flash.

When the train leaves the Input-1 track block, both lights are OFF.

The flashing lights are intended to warn the train engineer that the train should be stopped.
