Three-Rail Innovations' Two Relay Controller can improve safety when running your trains by automatically turning center-rail power off when potential routing conflicts arise. Examples are given for crossovers and track switches.
The Two Relay Controller can also eliminate short circuits when engine pickup rollers bridge separate transformer circuits on the same route.
Track Crossover Safety
A layout has a track crossover that can have a train approach from either leg. Engineers are occasionally distracted, and trains approaching the crossover collide.
Track Switch Safety
Sometimes the engineer is distracted and routes a train into a track switch when a train is already over the switch. For train safety, the tracks leading to a switch need to turn track power on only when the switch is clear.
"Power Passing" -- Eliminate Short Circuits at Track Block Changes
When a train layout has more than one transformer circuit connected to different parts of the same track, a train will pass from one transformer circuit to another where the different transformer circuits are adjacent. An engine's center-rail power pickup rollers bridge the separate transformer circuits and cause a SHORT CIRCUIT.
