K 'n G Railplex -- Track Diagram CLOSE

The layout has four loops: outer, center, inner, and work. The "outer loop" has an "operator siding" that is used to add and remove trains. The center loop has a "bypass track" that also has a siding. There are 234 feet of hi-rail track with O-54, O-72, and O-96 curves. There are twelve Lionel O-72 switches, mostly 711 (prewar) models.

The red circles in the diagram show boundaries for the thirty-eight track blocks. Track switches also have "following" blocks so the track switch controller knows when a train has cleared the switch.

The "operator siding" can perform as an automatic siding route or be operator controlled. The operator can select trains that will enter the siding. The train can be taken off the layout, its consist changed, etc. A train can also be assembled on the siding and then sent into the "mainline."

The "center loop siding" is operated for "stop and wait." A train entering the siding will stop and wait for a designated time, then proceed when the track ahead is clear. Other trains bypass the siding.

The platform is 10' 2" by 18' 10" assembled from eight portable panels.
