Lionel 394 Rotary Beacon BACK

The Lionel 394 Rotary Beacon provides a red and green swinging warning light.

The Lionel 394 Rotary Beacon was made from 1949 to 1953. It comes in unpainted aluminum, and red and dark green painted steel versions. The down-bent corner came that way from the factory on the red version.

Base is 5" x 5." The tower 11 3/4" high, making it a 1:48 scale model of a 47' high tower.

The base, ladder, and tower are stamped sheet metal. The light bulb base is die-cast metal. The beacon is very thin formed metal with plastic lenses.

A 461 "dimple" bulb is used. (Click for bulb specifications.) A small post in the beacon rests in the dimple.

Connections are to two fahnstock clips on the underside of the base. The tower frame and a rod in the center carry power to the light.

Rising heat from the light bulb turns the beacon.

Recommended operating power is 12-16 volts.

The Two Lighting Relays controller can cycle the beacon on and off in a day/night cycle.
